Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Specialist

Administer the quality assurance and performance improvement activities to ensure compliance with standards of care and applicable laws and regulations.

Essential Functions
  • Provide leadership and training as appropriate covering quality assurance and improvement
  • Develop, implement, and maintain ongoing monitoring of an integrated Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement plan to comply with the Federal, State, and Corporate standards of care and compliance
  • Develop and implement systems for maintaining clinical record fidelity, including chart reviews to document completeness, accuracy and compliance
  • Collect, analyze and document data to make recommendations for implementation of systems to enhance operations and utilization of resources and for reporting
  • Meet with Clinical Supervisors and/or providers to conduct education and training to mitigate further compliance concerns
  • Collect and analyze data and present to appropriate committees
  • Provide leadership and/or support for ensuring compliance with accreditation standards
  • Organize, facilitate and document Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement committee meetings
  • Assist with federal, state and grant compliance audits as directed
  • Supervise any staff members assigned to special projects, reporting and administrative activities supporting Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement activities.
  • Uphold the organization's vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization's policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Familiarity with ASAM Levels of Care, DSM-V, and State of Alaska Statutes and Regulations
  • Quality and performance improvement standards and practices
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and facility accreditation (hospital, behavioral health and long-term care)
  • Knowledge of grant compliance

Education - Degree - Program

Bachelor's, Master's preferred - Social Work/Behavioral Health, Quality Assurance, and/or related field

Experience - General (Non-supervisory) - Supervisory

Amount: - 3 year(s) Providing healthcare or performing quality assurance and/or performance improvement activities - 0(years)

Type: Must have both general and supervisory experience if indicated.

Credentials - Licensure, Certification, Etc.

LPC, LCSW, MSW, or RN certification or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • Use hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipment
  • Sit more than half the workday
  • Stand and/or walk less than half the workday
  • Bend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reach
  • View electronic monitors for prolonged periods of time
  • Lift or carry unaided less than 25 pounds

Working Conditions:

  • Work is conducted in a standard office environment as well as a standard clinical environment, which may expose one to latex, biohazard or other harmful substances
  • Travel up to 10% of time in small aircraft.
