The Maintenance Technician Intern supports the maintenance team in ensuring manufacturing equipment and facility systems operate safely and efficiently. This role provides hands-on experience in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.
The intern will gain exposure to both mechanical and electrical systems while assisting with daily maintenance activities and learning industry best practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Follow all safety policies, procedures, and environmental standards applicable to the facility.
Assist in maintaining plant equipment to ensure optimal operating condition.
Support preventive maintenance (PM) programs and schedules.
Help troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues under supervision.
Learn to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in company systems.
Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Collaborate with team members to meet production and maintenance goals.
Participate in training opportunities to build technical and professional skills.
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
Exposure to manufacturing or industrial environments
Basic knowledge of:
Electrical systems (motors, drives, PLCs)
Mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, gear-driven equipment
Familiarity with hand tools and maintenance equipment
Physical requirements
Ability to stand and walk frequently throughout the shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
Ability to bend, climb, and work in varying plant conditions
Exposure to dust, noise, and temperature variations in a manufacturing environment
This position operates in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to moving equipment and industrial conditions.
