Such alternatives as to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable JOB GOALS: To assist students as assigned, assist with office tasks or perform such organization tasks as assigned to promote instruction and an orderly school organization PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions listed below for this job title. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee occasionally is required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations of these physical demands may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. May be assigned to administer, score, and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as requested. 2. May be assigned to work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. 3. May be assigned to supervise and monitor students in study halls, lunch rooms, classrooms, or supervise students on playgrounds. 4. May be assigned to input data, type letters, reports, memos, etc. 5. Performs various related office duties as assigned. 6. May be assigned to operate copy machine to reproduce handwritten or typewritten materials and review work orders to determine number of copies desired; type of master copy to use; and color, size, and weight of paper required and also operate other machines such as assigned or deemed necessary such as collator, paper cutter, or hole puncher. 7. If assigned as a lunchroom monitor, organizes students into orderly lines for purchasing food, sees that they go to assigned tables, helps students develop and observe proper dining habits, assists younger students with use of utensils when needed, organizes groups for orderly dismissal from the lunchroom, circulates among the tables during the meal period so as to be available to help children who need help and to resolve any minor problems that arise, and informs any attending teacher at once of any serious infraction of disciplinary rules of students. 8. May be assigned to supervise students at play time and maintain a harmonious atmosphere on the playground and direct movement of groups to and from playground. If on duty as a playground monitor, is expected to assume responsibility for play equipment and report all playground hazards to the principal. 9. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes or in the administrative office as assigned. 10. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips. 11. May be assigned to read to students, listen to students read and participate in other forms of oral communications with students. 12. Assists students in the library or media center. 13. May be assigned to check and record student attendance. 14. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers. 15. Participates in in-service training programs, as assigned. 16. Abides by and observes all Board policies, administrative rules, directives or procedures as well as oral requests and directives presented by authorized supervisory and/or administrative authorities. 17. Performs/fulfills other related tasks/responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor or superintendent.
