Every day, individuals and families in our communities are battling issues of housing, immigration, food insecurity and racial justice without the legal representation they need to help them secure their rights. Recently, COVID-19 and the ensuing economic crisis have made this need more critical than ever. At Paladin, we envision a future where a global network of attorneys and legal organizations work together to deliver pro bono services to low-income individuals. We are building a team of self-starters, design thinkers, and ambitious technologists to create that future. The Role Today, our software is used by top law firms, corporate legal teams and legal service organizations to work together in the delivery of pro bono legal services to those in need. Our SaaS product connects organizations and individuals within the pro bono ecosystem to make pro bono attorney recruitment efficient and timely and provide data insights into organizations’ pro bono programs. We have recently closed a Series A round of financing and are investing in the future of our product as we scale our customer base and expand into new markets. We are looking for an exceptional Director of Data and Analytics to lead and grow our data operations. In this role you’ll: Lead the data and analytics function at Paladin. Identify key roles, recruit talented folks for your team, and support their growth as a manager. Architect Paladin’s pipelines and data stores to unify business and application data. Develop data warehouse models to support data analysis requirements from all functional groups of the company and our customers. Work with our product and engineering team to scope and develop new data products for our customers that provide insight into the impact of their pro bono programs, case outcomes and engagement with our product. Work with internal stakeholders to identify their needs and develop a roadmap for the data and analytics function. Improve reporting and data tools to empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. Document our data models so that they can be connected and analyzed by our users. Evaluate and lead the adoption of modern tools and infrastructure to evolve our data stack. Report directly to the CTO and work closely with the executive team to develop an organizational strategy for our data and analytics function. You have 6+ years of experience building data infrastructure and products. You love to roll up your sleeves and use your strong SQL and data modeling skills to develop data solutions. You have experience with modern data warehouses and tools. The modern data stack is evolving rapidly and you have experience working with new data warehouses and tools like dbt, Redshift, Snowflake, Singer, Looker and Metabase. You are familiar with software engineering practices. You use software development tools like Git, continuous integration and the command line to bring best practices to the development of data products and platforms. You generate new insights based on data. You love to explore data sets, generating new insights and product recommendations by leveraging a deep understanding of our users, customers, and business You are self-sufficient. You want to be given big problems to tackle and the ownership to design and build solutions. You are a strong collaborator. You love working with stakeholders to understand their needs and discover solutions to address them. You can thrive in the startup environment. You have a growth mindset and know how to drive down ambiguity to build consensus around solutions. You are comfortable being scrappy to get the job done. Our Data Stack You will help us evolve our data tools and infrastructure, but this is what it looks like today. Application databases: Postgres running on Heroku. Data warehouse: Redshift, Postgres on AWS Aurora, dbt.
