Overview Job Posting Title: Senior Database Administrator Department: Enterprise Technology - Data to Insights (D2I). Location: Texas. This position is open to all applicants and offers 40 hours per week with flexible/remote work options. Travel is limited to training (e.g., conferences/courses). Responsibilities Cloud Database Administration: conduct day-to-day operations of PostgreSQL databases in a 24x7 production environment; troubleshoot and resolve issues; define architectures to meet performance and security requirements; advise on SQL tuning; provide guidance on integration, design, and testing for production databases; develop performance monitoring processes; implement and improve backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies; perform PostgreSQL updates, upgrades, and installations; write SQL scripts and stored procedures; advise teams on best practices for database deployment and management; collaborate with support teams on IT projects; contribute to database processes and procedures; participate in on-call rotation. Systems Administration: provide Windows and Linux administration as needed for database applications; configure and maintain legacy Oracle database instances; participate in change management processes. AWS & Databricks Platform Administration: administer AWS services (RDS, S3, EC2, IAM, VPC); manage Databricks workspace, clusters, access controls, and Unity Catalog; work with dbt (Data Build Tool). Infrastructure as Code: use AWS CDK and Terraform to provision and manage database infrastructure; set up and maintain database monitoring and alerting (e.g., AWS CloudWatch). Other Responsibilities: communicate status verbally and in writing; assist with credential and secrets management in line with security standards; perform other related functions as assigned. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. 4–10 years of professional DBA experience with PostgreSQL or similar databases; SQL scripting and database tuning experience; database design, installation, migration, and conversion skills; experience with Databricks and AWS administration; automation of database processes; strong troubleshooting ability; effective cross-functional communication; self-motivation and ability to work independently in a dynamic environment. U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or asylee status with eligibility for access to required information; substitution of education/experience permitted as appropriate. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Preferred: Three years of automation experience for cloud-based workloads; experience with cloud-based data warehouses; multiple database types; high-availability implementations; Windows and Linux administration; basic networking knowledge related to database systems; experience supporting SDLC; AWS/Databricks certifications; QA processes and test development; Agile methodologies; JIRA experience; strong communication and teamwork. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $105,000+ depending on qualifications. Working Conditions May work around standard office conditions. Up to 100% remote work at employee discretion with occasional in-office presence preferred; standard keyboard and computer usage; regular shift typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, with occasional nights or weekends as required.
