Overview TELUS Health is a leading health and well-being provider. As part of our Client Services and Post-Implementation team, we support pension and benefits plans for millions of members across Canada and the United States. This role is a SQL Server Database Administrator responsible for ensuring the reliability, security and performance of mission-critical databases. Responsibilities Install, configure, maintain, and secure SQL Server databases that support client operations. Proactively monitor database infrastructure, respond to alerts, and resolve issues before they impact clients. Execute database backups, configure backup policies, and lead disaster recovery activities to ensure business continuity. Perform routine database maintenance, including performance tuning, patching, and resiliency optimization. Manage ticket queues with a focus on meeting incident and SLA deadlines to maintain client satisfaction. Collaborate with deployment teams on software releases and infrastructure upgrades. Respond to both internal stakeholders and external clients with professionalism and clarity. Create and maintain technical documentation that supports efficient team operations. Keep the configuration management database (CMDB) current and reliable as a source of truth for system infrastructure. Qualifications & Experience 5-7 years of hands-on SQL Server database administration experience. Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and later versions. Solid SQL and PL/SQL skills; familiarity with MySQL is a plus. Comfort working in Windows OS environments and Microsoft Office tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Customer-service mindset and the ability to understand and support client success. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and implement lasting solutions. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively. Attention to detail and commitment to quality in all deliverables. Nice to Have Experience with cloud-based backup and recovery solutions such as Rubrik or eVault. Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure. Hands-on experience with ServiceNow ticketing systems.
