$175,000 - 225,000 base
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Private Cloud Architect to design and build scalable, automated infrastructure across our data center environments. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering and architecture, serving as the connective layer between compute, storage, and networking systems.
This is not a public cloud role - the focus is entirely on private cloud architecture, with a strong emphasis on Kubernetes, automation, and infrastructure as code. The ideal candidate is deeply technical, hands-on, and capable of operating at both the engineering and architectural levels.
What You'll Do Design and implement private cloud platform architecture across on-premise environments Serve as the integration point between compute, storage, and networking layers Lead development of Kubernetes-based platforms, applying a "Kubernetes as code" mindset Drive automation strategy using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) Build and support hybrid cloud connectivity to public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Define and embed security architecture principles into platform design Collaborate across infrastructure teams to modernize and scale platform capabilities Provide hands-on technical leadership, raising engineering standards and depth within the team Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or cloud architecture Strong background in private cloud and data center environments Deep, hands-on experience with Kubernetes (design, deployment, and operations) Experience with Kafka and Spark in distributed systems environments Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar tools) Experience with container platforms such as OpenShift or SUSE Rancher Strong understanding of networking concepts, including:
L2/L3 networking EVPN/VXLAN SDN and load balancing
Experience with hybrid cloud integration (on-prem to public cloud) Solid understanding of security architecture and design principles Proven hands-on experience in platform engineering or SRE environments Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting HPC or GPU-based infrastructure Background working in large-scale, highly regulated, or enterprise environments What We're Looking For
A hands-on builder, not a strategy-only architect Someone comfortable working deep in the stack - from infrastructure to orchestration Strong problem solver who can connect disparate systems into a cohesive platform A technical leader who can elevate engineering rigor within the team
