À propos
About the Role Market Intelligence is one of Hoodie's core data products — sales estimates at the item, brand, and dispensary level across the cannabis market. It is the foundation our clients rely on to understand performance, velocity, and share, and it will continue to evolve to incorporate promotional and pricing models over time.
We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to own the Market Intelligence product end-to-end from an analytical standpoint. This is a high-visibility, high-ownership role. You will be the person responsible for ensuring that each monthly Market Intelligence refresh ships accurately and on time, and for investigating every data question or anomaly that arises along the way.
This role sits within the Catalog team and closely coordinates with Data Engineering. You'll work directly with the Catalog Manager, the Catalog Technical Lead, and Data Engineering, providing the analytical and investigative firepower to keep Market Intelligence at the highest standard our clients expect.
The ideal candidate is relentlessly curious, highly technical, and equally comfortable diving deep into a data anomaly at 9 AM as they are presenting findings to stakeholders at 2 PM. They also know how to work smart, using AI tools to accelerate research and investigation so more time is spent on the judgment calls that only a human can make.
Primary Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end accuracy and on-time delivery of the monthly Market Intelligence refresh
Track the status of all data inputs, transformations, and outputs leading into publication
Proactively surface risks to refresh quality before they become client-facing issues
Serve as the final analytical checkpoint before Market Intelligence data is published
Issue Investigation & Resolution
Identify, investigate, and resolve data anomalies ranging from small record-level discrepancies to large structural issues across datasets
Leverage AI tools to accelerate research, pattern recognition, and hypothesis generation
Trace issues upstream to their root cause and drive resolution in partnership with the right teams
Maintain a clear log of open issues, findings, and resolutions to build institutional knowledge over time
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Data Engineering to communicate analytical requirements with enough technical fluency to be a credible, respected counterpart
Work within the Catalog team to identify areas to improve data accuracy
Translate complex data issues into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders
Analytical Insight & Pattern Recognition
Develop and maintain SQL-based audits, monitoring queries, and validation checks to continuously assess data health
Spot patterns across large, complex datasets that signal underlying process or data quality issues
Contribute to the development of KPIs, dashboards, and reporting that give internal teams visibility into data quality
Qualifications Must-Have Skills
3–5+ years of experience in a data analyst role, with demonstrated ability to operate independently
Strong, hands-on SQL skills. You write queries daily, you optimize them, and you know how to use SQL to hunt down data problems
Exceptional curiosity about data. You are the kind of person who, when something doesn't add up, cannot let it go until you understand why
Proven ability to spot patterns and anomalies in large, complex datasets
Strong written and verbal communication skills You can explain a data issue clearly to both an engineer and an executive
Comfortable operating with significant autonomy and ownership in a fast-moving environment
High attention to detail
Strong Excel and Google Sheets proficiency for ad hoc analysis and reporting
Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) as part of an analytical workflow, for research, drafting queries, summarizing findings, and working through ambiguous problems faster
Strongly Preferred
Experience in the cannabis industry or with cannabis product knowledge
Experience working with market intelligence, competitive data, or retail/wholesale datasets
Familiarity with understanding data pipeline concepts and the ability to read data flow diagrams
Basic Python or scripting experience for automating repetitive analytical tasks
Experience in a SaaS, data products, or analytics company environment
What We Offer
Comprehensive benefits package including 401k, health, and dental insurance
A collaborative, innovative work environment that values professional growth
Opportunities to work on cutting-edge technologies and products that make a difference in the cannabis industry
Equal Opportunity Statement We are committed to diversity and inclusivity.
