Job Description Abbott is seeking a senior engineer to work in our Alameda, CA location in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. The role focuses on building software development and test infrastructure for next‑generation bio‑wearables, emphasizing safety, quality, and reliability. Responsibilities Plan, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for embedded software projects. Design multi‑worker systems that are robust to hardware failures and upgrade outages. Collaborate with embedded software and electrical engineers to build infrastructure‑as‑code solutions for automated, on‑target testing of medical devices. Develop metrics on infrastructure impact on developer velocity, product reliability, and cost. Document testing infrastructure and prepare run books for minimal support. Evaluate new technology alternatives and CI/CD initiatives, providing training and documentation. Lead projects by developing schedules, planning, purchasing physical infrastructure and software licensing, keeping projects on budget. Offer strategic solutions, analysis, and advice for future development. Support company initiatives and comply with regulatory requirements by FDA and other agencies. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of experience in Engineering or related field, master’s degree with 7+ years, or Doctorate with 2+ years. Expert knowledge in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bitbucket CI, GitHub Actions, etc.). Expert knowledge in scripting languages that run on both Windows 11 systems and Linux containers (Python, PowerShell, etc.). Experience with embedded software test infrastructure or Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop testing. Experience with software development life cycle processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in communications design and test using Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, TCP/IP. Experience working with safety critical software systems, especially in the medical device space. Practical experience in embedded software languages (C, C++, assembly, etc.). Knowledge of quality software engineering principles as described by ISO, IEEE, or other FDA‑recognized standards. Knowledge of design controls and regulations for medical device development. Compensation The base pay for this position is $114,000.00 – $228,000.00, which may vary by location. Location & Work Details United States – Alameda, CA, 1360‑1380 South Loop Road. Standard work shift. Travel: 10% of the time. Physical requirement: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8‑hour day).
