Job Summary Vantor is forging the new frontier of spatial intelligence, helping decision makers and operators navigate what’s happening now and shape what’s coming next. Vantor is a place for problem solvers, changemakers, and go-getters—where people are working together to help our customers see the world differently, and in doing so, be seen differently. Come be part of a mission, not just a job, where you can: shape your own future, build the next big thing, and change the world. This position requires an active U.S. Government Security Clearance at the TS/SCI level with an in-scope CI poly and that the applicant be a U.S. citizen. It’s a Data Scientist role that supports a forward-leaning defense intelligence program focused on enhancing analytic rigor, efficiency, and predictive capability across a broad mission set. Responsibilities Work in tandem with analysts to figure out methods to solve challenges with complex data sets, pattern identification, and visualizations. Perform research and implement forward‑looking analytic methodologies that leverage statistical techniques and pattern recognition. Assist analysts in developing structured approaches to predictive intelligence that increase timeliness and accuracy of assessments. Expand existing Natural Language Processing (NLP) to include new entities and improved visualization. Research and implement approaches that enhance analytical tradecraft (support critical thinking, mitigate biases, increase analytic rigor). Support the automation of structured analytic methods and workflows to increase repeatability and scalability of intelligence production. Contribute to the development and integration of semantic technologies, including ontologies and knowledge graphs, to support OBI standards. Design and build visualizations and dashboards that communicate complex data insights to technical and non‑technical audiences. Evaluate and optimize analytic performance using qualitative and quantitative metrics. Minimum Qualifications U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance and CI poly. 3 years of experience and a related Bachelor’s degree. Demonstrated experience with Python, R, and SQL, including programmatic access to web services, data management, and visualization. Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis and data mining algorithms. Knowledge and experience with artificial intelligence (AI), advanced analytics, cloud architecture, and data storage. Preferred Qualifications Polished oral and written communication skills sufficient to compose, tailor, and deliver original presentations and papers on abstract concepts. Familiarity with graph databases or graph data structures. Ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams to complete complex data science projects. Experience with AWS or similar cloud provider. Demonstrated experience in solving problems with structured and unstructured data. Experienced in applying statistical and data visualization skills. Strong problem‑solving skills to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets. Proven ability to learn and master new software, technologies and techniques. Familiarity with generative AI and large language models (LLMs) and their strengths and weaknesses when applied to intelligence requirements. Experience in two or more of the following: Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Apache Spark, Hadoop, R, C++, SQL Database/Coding, or visualization tools such as Tableau. Pay Transparency Base pay within the Washington, DC metropolitan area: $90,000.00 – $120,000.00 – $132,000.00 annually. Starting pay for this role will fall within the listed range and will be based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, location, and market conditions. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements for the role should not expect to receive compensation at the top of the range. The listed range reflects the expected pay for this position, and final offers will be determined based on each candidate’s experience, expertise, and alignment with the role. Benefits Vantor offers a competitive total rewards package that goes beyond the standard, including a robust 401(k) with company match, mental health resources, and unique perks such as student loan repayment assistance, adoption reimbursement, and pet insurance.
