Recognized as one of Computerworld’s Top Places to Work in IT for seven consecutive years, APL is seeking an Information Technology & Data Analyst to support enterprise IT systems and leverage data to drive informed decision‑making across the organization. This role serves as a critical bridge between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with organizational and mission requirements.
Responsibilities
Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
Translate data findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders
Support decision‑making through reporting, modeling, and visualization
Design and maintain interactive dashboards (e.g., Power BI or similar tools)
Develop lightweight tools, scripts, or workflows to automate data processing and reporting
Improve existing systems and processes for efficiency, scalability, and usability
Analyze business and operational requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions
Support the design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and monitoring of IT systems and applications
Monitor system performance and data quality; identify issues and recommend improvements
Interpret policies, requirements, and standards and translate them into data collection and reporting needs
Ensure data is captured accurately, consistently, and in compliance with cybersecurity, privacy, and regulatory requirements
Participate in risk, change, and configuration management activities
Work with systems, databases, and APIs to extract and integrate data
Support system upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh efforts (e.g., ServiceNow GRC, MCN, HCSD, NEXTOPS)
Perform queue and task management activities for classified systems
Develop and maintain system documentation, procedures, and user guides
Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams to support initiatives
Provide technical and data‑related guidance to users and leadership
Qualifications
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Have experience supporting enterprise IT systems and environments
Have working knowledge of operating systems, networks, databases, and enterprise applications
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Can communicate technical information effectively to non‑technical audiences
Have a strong understanding of data structures, databases, and data workflows
Are able to interpret complex requirements or policies and translate them into technical or data‑driven solutions
Have experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar
Hold an active Top Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python)
Strong technical analysis and systems thinking
Experience developing internal tools or automations
Knowledge of cloud platforms or modern data stacks
Attention to detail and disciplined documentation practices
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
A collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently
Familiarity with data governance, compliance, or regulatory‑driven environments
Experience working in cross‑functional or technical teams
Minimum and Maximum Rate Minimum Rate: $100,000 Annually
Maximum Rate: $245,000 Annually

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign‑on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, long‑term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
