Job Description This hybrid position requires the successful candidate to report to offices in Austin, TX, Mountain View, CA, Warren, MI, or the Greater Seattle Area at least three times per week (frequency may vary). The role focuses on design, development, and maintenance of data platforms for autonomous vehicle technology.
The Role Senior Data Engineer to join our Autonomous Vehicles Data team. Own technical projects from start to finish, contribute to the product roadmap, and make major technical decisions and tradeoffs.
What You'll Do
Build, manage and own data pipelines to collect, cleanse, and transform data from various sources into foundational datasets; create visualizations that calculate company KPIs in collaboration with AV product managers.
Ensure data reliability (quality, security) and regulatory compliance (privacy, governance).
Build strong partnerships with stakeholders (Data Science & ML teams) and collaborate to deliver cross‑functional projects.
Use cloud technologies to design, implement, test, and scale data systems in the cloud; champion engineering excellence through continuous improvement.
Champion operational excellence by improving systems, processes, documentation, and best practices for knowledge sharing across the engineering community.
Participate in team planning, code reviews and design discussions.
Conduct technical interviews and onboard, mentor junior engineers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years working with big data systems, data lakes, data warehouses or lakehouses using one of Azure, GCP, or AWS.
5+ years working with ETL/ELT, data modeling, Python (or similar), SQL.
Expertise in building and optimizing data pipelines and infrastructure.
Hands‑on experience orchestrating automated workflows or batch jobs.
Hands‑on experience and expertise with visualization tools such as Hex, Power BI, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands‑on experience implementing data governance/privacy regulations within data systems.
Experience in self‑driving technology domain.
Experience with big data frameworks and tools such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka for processing large datasets.
Experience with data serialization formats like JSON, Parquet, YML, and XML.
Experience working with petabyte‑scale data systems.
Compensation
Base salary: $125,000 – $198,400, depending on experience and position.
Bonus potential: incentive pay program tied to company performance, job level, and individual performance.
