Job Description
The Business Analyst’s role is to elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders, be they customers or end users. This includes strategic planning of project & initiatives, interviewing stakeholders, gathering and compiling user requirements, and working with development teams to understand and implement the technology solutions they need. The Business Analyst will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills to help the business make good technology decisions and will proactively work with business functional areas to look for new technologies to optimize business processes. Responsibilities
Liaison with Enterprise Tech team, Operations, and Finance teams to address cohesive articulation of business goals and processes, ensuring effective technology solutions and process improvements. Gain clear insights into current business practices, work with users, and develop written business process flows for specific functions while identifying overlaps and intersections. Create and present key requirements, including effective communication with all employee levels and management, scope documents, use cases, detailed specifications of key business rules, process/data diagrams, and system documentation. Develop and implement solutions for user requirements; provide specs and design documentation to the technical team; analyze and query application data. Verify feasibility of business user requests and business rules against existing technical systems and data structures. Collaborate and motivate small project teams; work as part of a fast‑paced, self‑directed environment. Interact proactively with business stakeholders to improve processes, address pain points, and prioritize business initiatives. Identify opportunities for process improvement, better resource utilization, product enhancements, improved communication, and faster issue resolution. Gather business requirements, document current and future state workflows (including cross‑functional interdependencies), and maintain functional documentation. Stay updated with the application team on new system functionality/releases and guide implementation and training with business and technical teams. Research and recommend best industry standards and practices where applicable. Develop expert understanding of finance business processes and map cross‑module integration with ERP and other applications. Develop test strategies and coordinate testing where applicable. Validate accuracy of reporting and analyze data for trends related to user behaviors, process efficiency, and system usage. Position Requirements
Formal education and certification: college diploma or university degree in business administration, computer science, finance, or information systems. BA and/or PMP certified (desired). Three to five years of related work experience. Knowledge and experience: financials background desired, ERP system knowledge, CMiC experience desired. Demonstrated knowledge of the organization’s core business processes and operations. Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development. Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products. Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user‑friendly language. Exceptional analytical and statistical skills with the ability to apply them to systems issues and products as required. Clear understanding of product management and market placement. Demonstrated project management skills and project management software skills, including planning, organizing, and managing resources. Understanding of application development and software development life‑cycle concepts. Personal Attributes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Prepare ad‑hoc spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel. Prepare user instruction manuals in MS Word. Create presentations in MS PowerPoint. Develop workflow diagrams in Visio. Ability to present complex information in simple, understandable ways. Analytical skills to gather useful information from different sources. Creativity to develop new solutions to old problems. Experience with creating use cases, business requirement documents, and impact analysis. Ability to prioritize work by making informed judgments and developing solutions for complex problems. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycles (plus). Exercise independent judgment and act on it. Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.
