Performs venipunctures and capillary punctures according to departmental standards Assists in the delivery of direct patient care under the oversight of a Registered Nurse and/or licensed medical practitioner and receives written and/or oral assignments and direction Obtains labs or procedure results, if not in chart, vital signs, chief complaint, reason for visit, allergies, current phone number and family list Documents patient care activities and patient data accurately using appropriate documentation forms and/or information systems Ensures exam rooms are clean which includes cleaning surgical equipment, preparing for delivery to central supply and disinfecting all patient contact equipment Performs required skills such as, but not limited to, vital sign measurement, aseptic technique, non-invasive specimen collection, spirometry, hearing testing, vision testing and EKGs, etc
Required
One year experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient medical office, or physician clinic setting or Medical Assistant Training Certificate from an accredited program and recent Medical Assistant experience Phlebotomist: CA Basic Life Support - BLS through an American Heart Association provider
Preferred
Associates in related field Recent phlebotomy Two years experience in a clinical setting
