The Plant Accountant is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions including month end processes, preparing financial reports, reconciliations, payroll, sales commissions, and accounts payable.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare journal entries to accounts documenting business transactions, preparing GL account and bank reconciliation, preparing financial statements and other reports to summarize the company's financial position including month end reporting, 8th day reporting, gainshare analysis, site communication meeting information, maintaining accounting policy database, identifying control gaps, developing and implementing appropriate control procedures to resolve control deficiencies, assisting in preparation for internal and external audits, developing financial analysis and cost accounting skills, responsible for execution and coordination of physical inventory, performance management for any direct reports, overseeing payroll and AP functions, and performing other job-related duties as required or assigned.
Job requirements include a bachelor's degree, solid understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP, proven track record of working in a team environment with a variety of departments, experience working with an ERP system, and three (3) years plant manufacturing experience. Preferred requirements include a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, packaging industry experience, IBM i AS400 experience, very strong PC skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel (advanced), self-directed with excellent initiative and organizational skills, ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy, self-motivated analytical problem solver with excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, strong written and verbal skills, strong work ethic with ability to work with little supervision, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, ensuring completion. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, using hands, reaching with hands and arms, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Working conditions include generally working in an office setting but will be required to perform some job duties inside a plant environment, exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic, exposed to a wide range of temperatures, frequently loud noise level, approximately 10% overnight travel, and may occasionally need to work evening or weekend hours.
