Position Summary
ManpowerGroup Public Sector (MGPS) is seeking an entry-level Junior System Administrator / Data Engineer to provide operational IT support to a federal customer in the National Capital Region. This position supports mission-critical systems in a secure environment and requires strict adherence to federal standards, configuration baselines, and customer-directed SOPs.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor system performance, availability, and security posture using approved government tools. Perform Tier 0-1 troubleshooting, incident triage, and ticket escalation in accordance with customer SLAs. Execute routine maintenance tasks, including patching, account administration, log review, and backup verification. Support data workflows, ETL activities, and basic data quality checks under senior engineer guidance. Maintain required documentation, configuration records, and audit artifacts per federal compliance requirements (e.g., RMF, STIGs). Follow change management procedures and contribute to process improvements where appropriate. Required Qualifications
0-2 years of experience in system administration, IT operations, or data engineering. Foundational knowledge of Windows/Linux, networking basics, and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python). Ability to work within structured federal environments with strict documentation and security controls. Active clearance as required by the customer (TS/SCI or higher). Preferred Qualifications
Experience with government-approved monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, SolarWinds, Nagios). Familiarity with STIGs, RMF, or other federal IT security frameworks. Entry-level certifications such as A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent. Exposure to cloud (AWS/Azure) or basic SQL/data engineering concepts.
