Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Technician (MT/MLT) - Travel ContractLocation: Bethel, Alaska Facility: Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) Contract Length: 26 Weeks Start Date: May 19, 2026 Schedule: Variable 8-Hour Shifts (Days, Evenings, or Nights) Position Type: Travel Contract Open Positions: 3 Position Overview Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation is seeking experienced Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Technicians to join its laboratory team in Bethel, Alaska. This opportunity is ideal for laboratory professionals who thrive in an independent work environment and are committed to delivering high-quality diagnostic services in a rural healthcare setting. Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, the selected candidate will perform laboratory testing, quality control procedures, and communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and patients to support exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures Conduct quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate test results Analyze and interpret laboratory findings and report results appropriately Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding laboratory results Adhere to laboratory safety, compliance, and regulatory standards Assist in training and providing guidance to Medical Laboratory Assistants when needed Maintain accurate documentation and laboratory records
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a related field required Minimum of two years of clinical laboratory experience preferred Experience in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and microbiology Laboratory generalist experience required Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment Strong communication and organizational skills
Certification Requirements
Current ASCP certification or NCA certification preferred Candidates must be board eligible through ASCP or NCA if not currently certified Certification must be obtained within one year of employment if board eligible
Assignment Details
26-week contract assignment Variable scheduling including day, evening, and night shifts Guaranteed weekly hours available after orientation period No on-call requirements Multiple openings available
Travel & Housing Information
Shared housing accommodations are provided Private housing is not available Pets are not permitted in provided housing Travel arrangements are the responsibility of the traveler or agency and are reimbursable according to facility guidelines Flight itinerary information must be submitted prior to arrival to coordinate housing and orientation
Compliance Requirements All candidates must successfully complete facility onboarding requirements prior to travel and start date. Required documentation includes, but is not limited to:
Professional certifications and credentials Employment references Background screening Drug screening Physical examination and/or fit testing as required Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination Required immunization records or acceptable titers, including:
Hepatitis A Hepatitis B Varicella Measles Mumps Rubella Tdap Polio
