Essential Responsibilities:
Conduct MRI procedures, ensuring patient clinical history aligns with the exam and documenting all relevant information for licensed practitioners. Prepare patients by providing clear instructions to achieve optimal results, ease anxiety, and encourage cooperation. Operate MRI equipment and accessories, selecting appropriate scanning parameters and protocols as directed by radiologists. Position and immobilize patients comfortably to best capture the area of interest while applying magnet safety principles to protect patients and staff. Assist licensed physicians during procedures and attend to patients' physical and psychological needs throughout. Perform venipunctures and manage contrast media preparation, administration, and safety monitoring. Evaluate image quality, adjust display parameters, and maintain accurate records with proper identification. Initiate basic life support when necessary and perform diagnostic radiographic procedures as needed. Educate patients and their families about tests and procedures in a compassionate manner. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, report equipment issues, and contribute to supply management decisions. Provide practical instruction to students and healthcare professionals and participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives. Stay current with sterile techniques, anatomical knowledge, and imaging technology. Record patient histories and relevant information accurately in electronic systems. Manage imaging media release requests following proper authorization protocols. This role may require participation in on-call duties to provide technical support outside regular hours, with schedules varying based on staffing needs. All organizational policies regarding on-call and call-in hours will be followed. Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology. Proven experience as a radiographer with knowledge sufficient to perform MRI procedures and maintain ongoing education in cross-sectional anatomy. Computer proficiency. Licensure and Certifications:
State certification as required. Registered Technologist (R.T. (R)) credential from ARRT or equivalent. ARRT MRI certification (R.T. (MR)) at hire or obtained within two years of employment.
Work Shift: Night shift, part-time, approximately 32 hours weekly.
Location: Serving the Midwest regional area of the United States.
