Organize and manage athletic training coverage, including scheduling and provider communication. Provide independent weekly athletic training room coverage at designated high schools, serving as a primary point of contact for injury evaluation, triage, and management of student-athletes. Administers first aid until appropriate medical assistance can be obtained. Provide evening and weekend football games and potentially and other in season game coverage to assigned high schools, when needed. Coordinate referrals to HSS sports medicine physicians and other appropriate specialists. Maintain direct contact with the sports medicine doctors, coaching staff, strength & conditioning staff, Athletic Director, student athletes and parents so that there is a clear line of communication. Evaluates athletes' physical condition, response and progress and discuss with appropriate physicians, supervisors, and then informs coaches of status of athlete's condition. Advises and treats student athletes to maintain physical fitness for participation in athletic competitions; records and maintains appropriate treatment/rehabilitation records for student athletes. Support HSS's mission to provide community benefit and address healthcare disparities and social determinants of health. Develop and maintain strong relationships with our local partner High Schools, athletic directors, physical therapists, referring primary care and specialty providers and athletes and their families. II. Advanced Practice Provider - Sports Medicine Institute Under the direction of the Sports Medicine Providers, the Athletic Trainer will support outpatient sports medicine clinical operations by:
Prepare and organize medical records prior to patient visits, including relevant imaging, prior documentation, and clinical history. Deliver patient education regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and rehabilitation, including development of personalized exercise programs and home exercise plans.
Assist with in-office procedures as appropriate to athletic training and scope of practice. Assist with coordinating the patient follow-up process, including referrals, imaging, therapy, medications, and return-to-play planning. Serve as a liaison between the physician, nursing, and office staff to promote efficient, coordinated patient care. III. Injury Prevention Educator The Sports Safety Educator will provide public health-based education to high school athletes, their coaches, parents, and the administration part of the sports safety program at HSS. Deliver educational workshop and training sessions under the direction of the HSS Sports Safety Program Manager. Contribute to the development, implement mentation, and improvement of educational materials and program curriculum under the direction of the HSS Sports Safety Program Manager Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training Current BOC certification CPR/AED certification Current Sate licensure in the state of employment. Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in the high school setting Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Prior 3 years of experience working in a high school athletic training setting and/or academic sports medicine practice preferred YEARS OF EXPERIENCE PREFERRED Previous injury prevention and exercise program development PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight (20 to 50 lbs). Examples: Nurses, LPNs, and Physical Therapists. ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS Indoor area with frequent exposure Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise. Examples: patient care providers and laboratory technicians. HAZARDS OSHA Category 1 Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and other potentially infectious materials. Upholds Standards/Expectations of HSS Staff - Resolves payor issues Follows-up and resolving payment issues with Insurance Payors. Upholds Standards/Expectations of HSS Staff - Acts as liaison Acts as a liaison between physician offices and Insurance Payors. Upholds Standards/Expectations of HSS Staff - Assists with meetings Schedules, coordinates, and documents for all PHO related meetings. Maintains Documentation & Manages Information - Maintains tracking logs Creates and maintains tracking logs for Insurance Payor issues and accountability for closing out items. Upholds Standards/Expectations of HSS Staff - Oversees PHO line Oversees PHO phone line, answers and responds to inquires, and assist with urgent physician office issues. Upholds Standards/Expectations of HSS Staff - Attendance Maintains satisfactory attendance record. Upholds Standards/Expectations of HSS Staff - Maintains punctuality Reports for duty punctually. Upholds Standards/Expectations of HSS Staff - Adjusts to change Adjusts to changing situations and work assignments.
