Position Overview Radiance Technologies is seeking an Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer for our Advanced Technology Development Operation (ATDO). The role focuses on developing secure microelectronics packaging and system‑level security for weapons systems. Candidates should have experience turning custom hardware prototypes into deployable solutions and be comfortable working through all design stages, from ideation to production acceptance testing. Responsibilities Participate in all design and development stages of electronics subsystems using embedded processors, ASICs, SoCs, GPUs, and FPGAs. Turn up initial custom hardware prototype designs and mature them into deployable solutions. Perform lab tests on designs and components, troubleshoot and improve embedded designs. Contribute to system security architecture and research, including intrusion detection, cryptography, and reverse engineering. Write reports, technical documentation, and provide guidance to the engineering team. Mentor junior technical personnel and assist in capturing business opportunities through customer interaction and proposal development. Requirements B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field with 10+ years of direct experience developing embedded systems (Advanced STEM degrees may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis). Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance. Understanding of schematics; ability to perform lab tests on designs and components; experience with custom electronics turn‑up. Embedded debugging/emulation experience. Real‑time OS experience. Embedded Linux and Linux hardware driver development. Expert level C programming skills. FPGA interface and integration experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Desirable Qualifications / Skills Advanced degrees (15+ years experience) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field. Active Top Secret clearance. Technical lead or architect experience on embedded projects. Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to propose new ideas and tools. Experience with microcode, secure boot, bare‑metal development, cryptographic algorithm implementation. Advanced knowledge of secure processors and roots of security. Hardware security experience: tamper vulnerability research, side‑channel attacks, fault‑injection attacks, nation‑state reverse engineering threat vectors. Proficiency in authoring software development plans and technical white papers.
