Software Engineering Internship – Summer 2026 This internship is offered by Webster Bank/HSA Bank for students entering their junior or senior year of an accredited college or university. The program lasts from June1 to August7,2026 and focuses on AI‑driven solutions in the banking domain. Key Responsibilities Research and assess new AI/GenAI technologies, frameworks, and tools for potential adoption. Identify and recommend AI‑driven use cases to improve banking operations and customer experiences. Collaborate with the engineering team to design, develop, and maintain AI‑enabled applications. Assist in building prototypes and proof‑of‑concept solutions for AI‑based features. Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment. Document findings, recommendations, and technical designs for internal knowledge sharing. Support continuous improvement initiatives for existing AI‑enabled applications. Requirements Current undergraduate rising junior or senior enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in a related field. Interest in the banking/financial services industry. Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and frameworks. Understanding of software development principles and version control systems (e.g., Git). Ability to analyze problems, research solutions, and communicate findings effectively. Strong inclination to researching and evaluating emerging AI/Generative AI tools. Strong collaboration and teamwork skills. Resourceful, enthusiastic, and proactive. Demonstrated strong attention to detail. Self‑motivated with a strong work ethic. Legally eligible to work in the U.S. Preferred Qualifications Exposure to Generative AI tools and APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Microsoft AI Stack, or similar). Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and their AI services. Coursework or projects related to AI/ML, data science, or software engineering. Compensation Estimated hourly range: $21.00–$23.00 USD. Actual salary may vary based on knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
