Job Description This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin, TX or Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business if more than 3 days]. The Role The Sales Planning and Intelligence IT organization is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, cloud-native applications with applied AI/ML capabilities. In this role, you will be a hands‑on senior contributor, owning complex features and services end to end while collaborating closely with product managers, architects, and fellow engineers. You'll work across the stack using Java, Angular, PostgreSQL, and AI/ML technologies on Microsoft Azure, helping deliver high‑quality solutions to real business problems. What You’ll Do
Design and implement complex features and services within multi‑tier, cloud‑native systems on Azure Contribute to system and application architecture and design discussions Own features across the full software development lifecycle, from design through production support Translate business and product requirements into clear, maintainable technical solutions Write clean, testable, and well‑documented code following established engineering standards Participate in code and design reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers through collaboration and example Identify and resolve issues related to performance, reliability, security, and maintainability within owned areas Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional partners to deliver high‑quality software
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) 7‑8+ years of professional software development experience in an agile environment Strong experience building cloud‑native applications on Microsoft Azure, including managed services Solid understanding of system design, APIs, and distributed system fundamentals Proven experience delivering customer‑facing applications or services
Full‑Stack
Java for backend services and APIs Angular for modern web front ends PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
AI/ML
Consuming predictive or analytical models Integrating generative AI (LLMs, embeddings, RAG, prompt workflows) Implementing AI‑powered features within existing applications Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
Master’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience 10+ years of professional software development experience Experience with distributed systems at moderate scale Familiarity with: Cloud observability and monitoring tools, Security best practices for cloud applications, and CI/CD pipelines and automated testing Experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead for features or projects
This job may be eligible for relocation benefits. Compensation:
The expected base compensation for this role is: $160,400 - $227,100. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
