Job Summary The Principal Data Scientist is responsible for providing advanced mathematical and statistical methods to solve business problems, providing leadership and strategic direction. This position is focused on building advanced time-series models that forecast trends in medical spend, using techniques like hierarchical Bayesian models and temporal fusion transformers. Responsibilities also include ensuring the scientific rigor and reproducibility of model evaluation, optimizing models for accuracy and interpretability, and communicating core findings to stakeholders from technical ICs to managers to top leadership. Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR Actuarial credential or Master’s degree and 6 years of work experience in a in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR Ph.D. and 4 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR 11 years of work experience in an advanced mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field. Leadership and/or management experience. Expertise with time series modeling and forecasting methodologies. Strong learning and growth mindset. Customer focus. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in at least five of the following six areas, and demonstrated mastery in at least three: 1) data analysis and relational-style query languages; 2) machine learning and/or statistical modeling; 3) data visualization; 4) a high-level programming language; 5) distributed computing; 6) understanding of healthcare. A track record of independently delivering or leading the delivery of multiple complex analytics or data science projects. A track record of mentoring, managing, or leading junior analytics or data science staff and providing thought leadership.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field, or bachelor's degree with significant healthcare experience.
Base Pay Range $121,200.00 - $225,200.00 Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
