Summary Guides and/or participates in the development, implementation, and management of cloud-based systems. Leads and/or participates in the development of common components and templates for resources in cloud using the most relevant method (e.g., Infrastructure as code). With some guidance, regularly reviews cloud systems for vulnerabilities. Leads the process for and/or participates in the collaboration process with engineers and development teams on cloud solutions. Guides and/or participates in the identification and optimization of various cloud resources to increase efficiency and/or lower cost of solutions. Has advanced knowledge of cloud computing architectures (e.g., resource pooling, on-demand self-service, scalability, elasticity, security, and serverless computing). Based on research and business requirements, guides and/or provides recommendations to modify and improve existing cloud systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leads and/or participates in the creation of infrastructure to streamline development of applications using modern cloud practices. Leads and/or participates in the development of common components and templates for resources in cloud using the most relevant method (e.g., Infrastructure as code). Guides and/or participates in the identification, analysis, and resolution of cloud infrastructure and application deployment issues.
Guides and/or ensures efficient functioning of data storage and process functions in accordance with security policies and best practices in cloud security. Leads and/or participates in building cloud solutions based on security, monitoring, logging, and alerting requirements.
With some guidance, regularly reviews cloud systems for vulnerabilities. When vulnerabilities arise, leads and/or participates in troubleshooting incidents, identifying root causes, fixing and documenting problems, and implementing preventative measures.
Guides and/or participates in the development of testing use cases and detailed testing plans that map to the documented business and technical requirements. Leads and/or participates in the coordination of technical and end‑user resources to execute detailed tests and analyze testing results.
Leads and/or participates in the performance of network maintenance to ensure cloud networks operate correctly and with minimal interruption. Has advanced knowledge of network peering, as necessary for facilitating communication between on‑premise and cloud. Has an advanced ability to describe the current state of cloud computing and how it is operating in an automated, network environment.
Leads and/or participates in the collaboration process with engineers, architects, and development teams to identify/evaluate optimal cloud solutions that provide a robust, flexible, and scalable platform. Leads and/or participates in the evaluation of key components of cloud computing and various cloud technology platforms to understand which would best be leveraged at the Board. Has advanced knowledge of cloud computing architectures (e.g., resource pooling, on-demand self‑service, scalability, elasticity, security, and serverless computing). With some guidance, determines which cloud tools and services are best fit for a specific purpose.
Guides and/or participates in the connection of disparate elements of various cloud and local resources into a single environment using integration platforms and tools. Leads and/or monitors end‑to‑end performance, adjusting networks for particular applications, and adding different services on demand. Guides and/or participates in the identification and optimization of various cloud resources to increase efficiency and/or lower cost of solutions.
Has advanced knowledge of one or more programming languages. Leverages programming knowledge, as necessary, to build, deploy, and manage cloud applications.
Guides and/or participates in bundling an application’s code with all the files and libraries it needs to run on any infrastructure, enhancing the infrastructure’s productivity and operational efficiency.
Provides advanced guidance regarding architectural and procedural best practices related to cloud. Trains teams on the installation and usage of new cloud technologies.
Leads and/or participates in the maintenance of cloud solutions in accordance with best practices. Based on research and business requirements, guides and/or provides recommendations to modify and improve existing systems.
Designs cloud-based networks/systems of moderate complexity and with an average number of sub‑systems. Guides and/or plans new possible features for cloud networks/systems to remain innovative, ensure ease of use, and meet business requirements.
Position Requirements Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and five years’ experience. Must have advanced knowledge (i.e., demonstrates broad understanding and contributes to the success of work in applicable areas) in the following areas: system administration, cloud technology platforms, cloud tools/services, and DevOps. Must be able to work effectively with staff. Must be able to support one or more of the following: database management, programming, cloud security/recovery, and cloud‑centric integration.
Desired Knowledge
Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC‑900)
Experience with Enterprise Vault administration and EV‑to‑M365 migrations
Experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps)
Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, etc.)
Experience with Microsoft Teams voice/calling and Direct Routing

Active Directory and DNS management
Certificate management and PKI basics
Load balancers and network connectivity concepts
