The Impact You Will Have
Provide technical leadership to guide strategic customers to successful implementations on big data projects and large-scale data warehousing workloads.
Demonstrate the value of the Databricks Intelligence Platform by architecting production-level data pipelines, including end-to-end load performance testing and optimization.
Become a technical expert in areas such as data lake technology, big data streaming, or data ingestion and workflows.
Assist Solution Architects with advanced aspects of the technical sale, including custom proof-of-concept content, estimating workload sizing, and custom architectures.
Provide tutorials and training to improve community adoption, including hackathon and conference presentations.
Contribute to the Databricks Community.
What We Look For
3+ years of experience in a technical role with expertise in data engineering and data warehousing, including:
Software Engineering/Data Engineering: data ingestion, streaming technologies such as Spark Streaming and Kafka, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and debugging Spark or other big data solutions.
Data Applications Engineering: building use cases that use data, such as risk modeling, fraud detection, and customer lifetime value.
Data Warehousing: query tuning, performance tuning, troubleshooting, data governance, debugging MPP data warehouses or other big data solutions, or migration workloads from enterprise data warehouse systems (e.g., SQL, Redshift, SAP, Synapse, EMR, OLAP & OLTP workloads).
Experience in maintaining and extending production data systems to evolve with complex needs.
Deep expertise across multiple data engineering areas, including:
Designing and scaling cost‑efficient, high‑performance data workloads (ETL, analytics) in cloud environments.
Building and migrating large‑scale data pipelines, including batch, CDC, and streaming ingestion.
Migrating on‑prem or Hadoop‑based data systems to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Developing and managing modern data lake and warehouse systems, including Delta technologies, data modeling, governance, and BI integration.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience through work experience.
Production programming experience in SQL and Python, Scala, or Java.
Experience with the AWS, Azure, or GCP clouds is highly desirable.
Preferred: 2+ years of customer‑facing experience in a pre‑sales or post‑sales role.
Ability to meet expectations for technical training and role‑specific outcomes within 6 months of hire.
Willingness to travel up to 30% when needed.
Compensation Pay range: $152,300 – $247,500 USD (applicable to all zones).
