As a Medication Assistant, you'll play a vital role in ensuring residents receive their medications safely and compassionately-while upholding the dignity, privacy, and well-being of every individual you serve. As aMedication Assistant, you are the bridge between clinical precision and compassionate care. Your attention to detail and empathy ensure residents receive their medications correctly and respectfully, helping them maintain health, independence, and peace of mind. Through your work, you'll uphold Renaissance's mission to serve seniors with honor, faith, and integrity, ensuring that every resident feels safe, valued, and loved. What You'll Do Medication Administration
Follow the six rights of medication administration-right resident, right drug, right dosage, right time, right route, and right record/documentation-every single time. Double- and triple-check the six rights at three key points:
When removing the medication from the cart or cabinet Immediately before administration Immediately after administration
Assist with or administer medications per theMedication Administration Record (MAR), ensuring accuracy and adherence to policy. Clearly and accurately document all medication actions, including doses given, refused, held, or discontinued. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked medication cart or cabinet. Provide treatments and care as outlined in each resident'sindividual service plan. Immediately report any medication errors, questions, or concerns to your Wellness Nurse or supervisor. Resident Services & Care
Provide compassionate care that aligns with Legacy's philosophy, policies, and resident rights. Assist residents in meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs to promote overall wellness. Respect residents' rights to privacy and choice, including the right to refuse medication or treatment. Explain medications and their purposes to residents before administration, offering reassurance and understanding. Observe residents for adverse reactions and promptly report concerns to the Wellness Nurse or supervisor. Follow infection control procedures and dispose of waste per OSHA and residence policy. Support dining, housekeeping, and personal care as needed to ensure a comfortable, home-like environment. Respond to resident calls and emergencies with professionalism, compassion, and calm. Communication & Teamwork
Attend all required staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education sessions. Communicate resident updates, medication issues, or condition changes promptly and accurately to the Wellness Nurse and team members. Notify supervisors of any resident or family concerns, complaints, or questions. Report on-the-job injuries or incidents according to company procedures. A compassionate, dependable professional dedicated to resident safety and comfort Certified or registered to assist with medication administration per state requirements Experienced in assisted living, senior care, or healthcare (preferred, not required) Attentive to detail with strong documentation and observation skills A team player with excellent communication and reliability Able to lift, bend, and assist residents using proper body mechanics Must pass background checks and meet all applicable state training and compliance standards Requirements Qualifications
Must be a Certified Medication Aide in the state of Wisconsin Experience in the caregiving to older adults preferred Ability to read, write, and speak English Desire to work with older adults Friendly, caring disposition Required medication training Integrity Knowledge Requirements
