Salary: $62,554.00 - $96,958.00 Annually Location : Hardeeville Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202300103 Department: Fire Department Opening Date: 02/26/2026 Description The Paramedic is a highly skilled healthcare provider responsible for delivering advanced life support (ALS) in prehospital and interfacility settings. This position involves rapid assessment, critical decision making, and the application advanced medical procedures to stabilize, treat, and transport patients. The Paramedic functions as a team leader on EMS Incidents, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and professionalism.
Examples of DutiesEmergency Medical Services (Primary Role)
Provide advanced life support (ALS) assessment, treatment, and transport in accordance with medical protocols, department guidelines, and state regulations. Perform invasive procedures including IV/IO access, airway management, cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and advanced trauma care. Lead the patient care team on EMS incidents, directing EMTs, Firefighter/Paramedics, and support personnel as needed. Communicate and coordinate with receiving hospitals, medical control, and allied health agencies to ensure continuity of patient care. Complete accurate and timely electronic patient care reports (ePCR) in compliance with HIPAA and quality assurance standards. Maintain medical equipment, supplies, and controlled substances in a state of readiness. Participate in EMS quality improvement, continuing education, and skill verification. Additional Responsibilities
Participate in daily station duties, training, and physical fitness to maintain readiness. Conduct public education and community risk reduction activities. Operate department vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, following all policies and applicable laws. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory officers. Typical QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; college coursework in Fire Science, EMS, or related field preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year EMS or fire service experience preferred. Licenses/Certifications:
Current State Paramedic certification (or National Registry with ability to obtain State certification). Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS/PEPP certifications. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; ability to obtain EVOC/CEVO certification.
