Under general supervision, assists in a variety of paraprofessional nursing tasks within an institutional healthcare setting. This position is intended for inpatient environments involving high-risk and high-acuity patients. Employees in this role work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), licensed physician, or other authorized healthcare practitioner in accordance with South Carolina law.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide basic nursing care and patient support Monitor and observe patient conditions Maintain accurate medical documentation and records Assist with medication administration and nursing procedures Communicate effectively with healthcare staff and patients Follow institutional policies, procedures, and healthcare regulations Assist in emergency response situations when required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of practical nursing procedures and human anatomy Strong observation and attention-to-detail skills Effective verbal and written communication abilities Ability to maintain accurate patient documentation Knowledge of relevant state and federal healthcare regulations Ability to lift and move patients when necessary
Special Requirements:
Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license through the South Carolina State Board of Nursing CPR/BLS certification may be required Some positions may require a valid driver's license
Available Facilities & Shifts:
McCormick Correctional Institution - Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM & Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM Camille Graham Correctional Center - Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM
