Education: Current Louisiana RN license. Must possess a Master’s degree with a concentration in the respective advanced practice nursing specialty from an accredited college or university. Must possess a certification by a nationally recognized certifying body. Current CPR certification Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in advanced practice nursing. Knowledge of scope of practice.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. High level of ethics in maintaining patient confidentiality. Excellent analytical skills to assess and evaluate patient needs and develop and implement a care plan. Handles a multitude of tasks simultaneously. Communicates with patients, physicians, and other staff in verbal and written form. Provides safe and effective nursing care. Calm, professional attitude in stressful situations and interactions.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities (Position):
Patient Relations: Achieves customer/patient satisfaction by greeting patients and proactively attending to their needs. Responds to patient requests in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains confidentiality of patient information at work and off duty. Provides health education to students, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups, within area of specialty. Assessment: Performs medical examinations and evaluations and diagnoses, treatment, follow-up, consultations, and health education relevant to the patient’s care (age specific). Obtains patient histories and develops patient care charts, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Recognizes patient abnormalities, urgent needs, and emergencies and seeks physician assistance. Treatment / Care: Implements nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures adapting techniques to meet individual patient needs. Knowledgeable about standard practice and procedures that monitor, prevent and control infection in the clinic setting. Instructs patients on care and techniques and provides information in compliance with treatment plans including basic principles of healthy lifestyle and health risk reduction. Plans and provides routine immunizations. Acts as an advocate in providing safe delivery of care at all times. Documents patient care, changes in symptoms and reactions and documentations the action in response to those changes. Teaches patients/families all new procedures and medications. Participates in preventative health maintenance initiatives and recalls.
