Salary: $29.76 Hourly Location : Parkside - Beaverton, OR Job Type: Part-time Job Number: 26-00068 Department: SAFETY SERVICES Opening Date: 06/03/2026 Closing Date: Continuous Description Now Hiring Safety Services Team Members!Description is looking for people to join our Safety Services team. Safety Services staff are committed to public service by creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our community to gather and recreate. The ideal candidate has experience in a public safety role focused on customer education and helping people comply with organizational rules. Applicants should have experience working with diverse communities, including lived experiences, or bring a unique background that adds a fresh perspective to the team. Strong customer service skills and an eagerness to work in the diverse Beaverton-area community are essential. A typical day in involves serving as a district ambassador and applying a diversity, equity, inclusion, and all-access lens to daily decisions. Staff are an approachable presence in parks and facilities, providing information and educating patrons about rules, regulations, and laws that help make parks and facilities safe and enjoyable. Safety Services staff also collaborate with local law enforcement partners to address safety concerns and support community safety. Employees receive free drop-in access to all THPRD recreation facilities for their household. Be sure to check out the Benefits tab to see what the district offers! Schedule Shifts are 7:00 AM-4:00 PM or 3:30 PM-12:30 AM, with approximately 29 hours per week. Part-time staff may work up to 1,560 hours per year. Pay $29.76 per hour The hiring rate for this position is $29.76 per hour. The full hourly range for this job classification is $29.76 to $33.56 per hour. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September. Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain upon hire Oregon DPSST Private Security Professional (Unarmed) certification, or ability to obtain upon hire Willingness to work outdoors in all types of weather Experience & Training Any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience, education, or training related to security work, public service, or public communication/education Relevant specialized training or coursework Bilingual and multilingual skills; THPRD offers a 5% pay incentive for staff who utilize these skills at work

PART-TIME VARIABLE (PT): Part-time variable (PT) employees work less than 29 hours per week on average annually. However, they have the option of working additional hours during periods like summer or winter months. PT are eligible to receive benefits such as Paid Time Off (PTO), Holiday Pay, Compassionate Leave, and Inclement Weather Pay (if required to work).
SEASONAL: Seasonal employment is temporary and allows employees to work only during certain times of the year, up to 40 hours per week for a maximum duration of six (6) consecutive months. Seasonal employees are eligible to receive benefits such as Holiday Pay, Compassionate Leave, and Inclement Weather Pay (if required to work). Effective February 15, 2026, seasonal employees will also be eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (PTO)! Available to all classifications:Great Place to Work THPRD is a certified as of June 2024! Bilingual employees who utilize their language skills in the workplace up to 10% of the time, can earn an additional 5% pay incentive. Leave Paid Time Off - Paid leave type for part-time variable employees. Paid Time Off (PTO), will accrue at a rate of one (1) hour earned for every 30 hours worked. This is in addition to Sick leave and may be scheduled by employees for any reason! Effective February 15, 2026 the accrual rate for PTO will increase to one (1) hour earned for every 23 hours worked and will include seasonal employees! The ability to accrue paid sick leave at a rate of one (1) hour earned for every 30 hours worked Family Medical Leave eligibility for qualified family and medical related reasons
Paid compassionate leave is available to all part-time employees to grieve the loss of an immediate family member, to make arrangements (if necessary), and to attend memorial services. Employees are eligible for paid compassionate leave for up to the hours scheduled in their average work week. Retirement Available savings for retirement through a 457(b)-deferred compensation plan by contributing pre-tax dollars from your paycheck
