Provide direct speech and language therapy services across all areas of disorder/delay per student IEPs and 504 Plans. Conduct speech and language screenings, observations, and initial/reevaluation assessments in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines. Analyze test results and write comprehensive diagnostic reports. Formulate measurable, student-specific speech and language goals and benchmarks for IEPs. Design, develop, and implement student-specific materials and methodologies on an ongoing basis.
Collaboration & Consultation
Participate actively in all multidisciplinary team meetings, including initial, annual review, and reevaluation IEP/504 meetings. Consult with the Intervention Planning Team, classroom teachers, staff, and parents regarding individual student goals and accommodations. Identify appropriate assistive technology support for students with speech, language, and processing needs; train teaching staff on implementation and ensure equipment is maintained.
Compliance & Professional Conduct
Maintain accurate, confidential student records in strict compliance with MA DESE, FERPA, and district guidelines. Supervise and train Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) as needed. Model the mission, philosophy, and character virtues of AKFCS. Maintain and enhance clinical skills by participating in and conducting staff development and continuing education programs.
Job Requirements & Qualifications Massachusetts DESE Licensure Requirements
MA DESE Specialist Teacher License: Must hold or be eligible for the Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders (All Levels) initial or professional license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement: Requirement must be met to satisfy DESE regulations for teaching multilingual learners.
Additional Required Qualifications
Education: Master's Degree (M.S. or M.A.) in Speech-Language Pathology. Professional Licensure: Valid Board of Registration license as a Speech-Language Pathologist from the Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure. Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Frequently required to talk, hear, write, and utilize keyboarding skills. Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, reach, kneel, and travel easily between classrooms and campus buildings. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision. Occasional light lifting and/or carrying of instructional materials.
Environment & Equipment
Work Environment: Primarily indoors. Noise level is usually quiet to moderate but can elevate depending on the student task or setting. Specific activities may occasionally generate dust or non-toxic fumes. Equipment Used: Standard office and instructional technology, including computers, copy machines, telephones, and projectors.

Compensation and Benefits: Full-Time Exempt Salary Position with compensation based on relevant experience. This role is not on a salary scale.
