Cytology Processing 1st Shift Lexington, KY, USA Full Time P&C Labs is a comprehensive provider of anatomic pathology and cytopathology services, covering specimen transport, preparation, immunohistochemistry testing, and final patient reporting. Pathology and Cytology Laboratories LLC, along with Chipps, Caffrey & Dubilier, P.S.C., specializes in Anatomic Pathology, Cytopathology, Hematopathology, GI Pathology, Clinical Laboratory Consultations, and Laboratory Medical Directorships. Established in 1967, we deliver the highest quality service and professional expertise to physicians, clinics, and hospitals. Role Overview: This role demands a solid understanding of cytology GYN and non-GYN specimen terminology and processing techniques. The incumbent will handle the reception, accession, staining, cover slipping, and labeling of GYN and non-GYN specimens. Adherence to safety practices, equipment maintenance, and maintaining a secure processing environment are paramount. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for positive collaboration within the Cytology Department at PCL. Responsibilities:
Receive and accession GYN and non-GYN specimens. Adhere to safety requirements for GYN and non-GYN processing. Follow preventive maintenance schedules for processing equipment. Change stains and solutions per maintenance schedule. Handle Thin Prep pap smears and non-GYN cellblocks. Participate in continuing education and total quality activities. Perform data entry for pap smears and non-GYN specimens.
Qualifications:
Associate degree or equivalent credentialing in a specialized medical or medical-related training field with at least one year of relevant technical experience. Knowledge of surgical pathology and medical terminology. Familiarity with cytological processing procedures' chemicals, solutions, and hazards. Ability to tolerate chemical smells and handle human biological specimens. Willingness to upgrade skills in response to evolving medical field requirements. Eagerness to learn and contribute to various job-related duties.
Hours - 1st shift 11am-7:30pm
