Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, implement, and direct a comprehensive activities program designed to meet the individual interests, needs, and abilities of residents. Conduct and document resident assessments to identify recreational, therapeutic, and social needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized activity care plans that promote resident engagement and overall well-being. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, documentation standards, and quality assurance requirements. Recruit, train, supervise, and support activity department staff and volunteers. Develop and manage departmental budgets while maintaining cost-effective operations. Coordinate special events, community partnerships, and off-site recreational outings. Foster positive relationships with residents, families, staff, volunteers, and community organizations. Promote resident participation in activities that enhance quality of life and encourage social interaction. Continuously evaluate and improve programming to ensure meaningful and engaging experiences for residents.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in therapeutic recreation or activity programming, preferably in a healthcare, rehabilitation, long-term care, or senior living setting. Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to assess resident needs and develop effective recreational and therapeutic programming. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and compliance practices related to resident activities. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
