Position Summary Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, a ministry of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, is seeking an Certified Medication Technician (CMT) to provide medication administration and direct care support within CRSS Assisted Living Facilities. This role is responsible for safely administering and accurately documenting medications via approved routes (excluding intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, except insulin). The CMT supports residents who require 24-hour supervision due to physical, functional, or social impairments, assisting with activities of daily living, housekeeping, and general care needs. All duties are performed in alignment with the mission, values, and standards of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, ensuring compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered care. Overview & ResponsibilitiesPrepares, administers and documents medications by all routes, except for intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, with the exception of insulin, in compliance with all State and Federal regulations. Responsible for performing blood sugar testing and administering insulin as ordered. Maintains glucometer calibration checks and documents. Observes, reports and records response of the resident to medications. Observes and reports changes in residents' physical condition, skin conditions and cognitive/emotional status to Resident Care Coordinator. Maintains an accurate account of controlled substances. Orders and monitors appropriate use of needed supplies including reordering of medications. Administers specified treatments and records. Administer oxygen by nasal cannula as needed. Maintains oxygen systems for residents on a daily basis. Assists residents with bathing and personal hygiene (shaving, oral hygiene, nail care, hair care, foot care(except for diabetics); mobility devices (canes, walker, wheelchairs, crutches, including monitoring safe self-transfer and ambulation techniques and care of all activities of daily living devices (eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids). Does monthly pathway to safety checks with residents and documents. Assists residents with housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, room cleaning emptying trash, bed making, and bed/linen changes. Assists residents with personal laundry as needed. Records incidents, errors, and/or accidents. Conducts room checks and makes resident rounds. Records resident and resident-related events Ensures resident's participation in mealtimes. Pours coffee and provides beverage service at lunch and dinner. Participates in and supports the resident-centered activity programs. Responds to and acts appropriately in emergency or disaster situation. Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process. Assists with quality assurance programs. Assists in training of new CMT/ML1 staff. Provides and promotes customer service for residents, employees, and visitors Maintain safe and clean environment for residents, visitors and staff. Attends all staff meetings and required in-services yearly before evaluation is due. Performs other duties as assigned by needs of the business. Knowledge & Experience RequirementsMust be a Certified Nursing Assistant and in good standing in the state of Missouri. Must have successfully completed the Certified Medication Technician training program for the state of Missouri and be in good standing. Must have successfully completed or be willing to complete the Insulin Administration Training Program within three months of hire. Must have current CPR certification or be willing to become CPR certified. Maintains all certification required for employment qualifications Able to perform duties with minimal direction from the Resident Care Coordinator. Skills & Competencies RequiredObserves, reports and records response of residents to medication. Administer oxygen by nasal canula as needed and demonstrate oxygen safety. Blood glucose monitoring Urine and stool specimen collection Must be self-motivated, function as an "in charge person" and use good judgment. Able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances. Able to think, act and intervene independently in both routine and emergency situations Able to work flexible hours and participate in holiday activities. Utilizes tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations. Able to perform physical/mental/functional requirements of the position. Resources for which accountableResponsible for the care, safety and wellbeing of the residents. Utilizes supplies and other assets in a prudent manner.
