Provide direct supervision of patients at all times to ensure the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors Observe and monitor patient behavior continuously, identifying changes in mental, emotional, or physical condition and promptly reporting concerns to clinical staff Respond to crisis situations using approved de-escalation techniques and assist with behavioral interventions, including restraint procedures when necessary Conduct safety and security procedures, including monitoring patient movement, performing checks, and identifying potential risks or contraband in accordance with facility protocols Document patient interactions, behavioral observations, progress notes, and incident reports in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients using appropriate communication, active listening, and professional boundaries Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care planning and coordination Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean, structured environment Maintain compliance with all facility policies, including infection control, safety procedures, and patient rights standards
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a behavioral health, psychiatric, residential, hospital, or similar setting required Experience working with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or behavioral health conditions preferred Knowledge of behavioral health practices, crisis intervention, and patient supervision techniques preferred Ability to manage challenging behaviors and respond effectively in high-stress situations Comfortable with exposure to challenging patient behaviors, including verbal or physical aggression Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and a therapeutic approach to care CPR/BLS certification A valid driver's license in good standing may be required Must successfully complete drug and fingerprint-based background screenings
