Provides explanations of imaging procedures to reduce patient anxieties and gain cooperation.
Conducts mammography studies by positioning breasts, adjusting compression mechanisms, and instructing patients accordingly.
Minimizes radiation exposure to patients and staff by following radiation protection techniques.
Maintains the production and quality of mammograms by adhering to established standards and procedures.
Ensures the operational effectiveness of mammography equipment by performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting issues.
Keeps mammography supplies organized and ready by managing inventory and processing laundry.
Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by enforcing relevant standards and procedures.
Documents patient mammogram services accurately in patient records.
Updates job knowledge through participation in educational opportunities and professional organizations.
Proficient in diagnostic breast imaging and routine breast imaging.
Routine breast imaging is scheduled every 30 minutes and diagnostic breast imaging every 40 minutes.
DEXA scans are performed every 20 minutes and the technician works collaboratively with a scheduler and another technologist.
