Description: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients and their families receive individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care. The role requires adherence to the standards outlined by the professional nursing regulatory bodies. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards. In this position, the individual is responsible for performing the Nursing Process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They provide relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with patient population characteristics. Collaboration with patients and significant others is key to achieving optimal care outcomes. The RN coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care. This role involves teamwork and collaboration to promote a respectful clinical environment. Participation in performance improvement activities is essential for safe, quality patient care. The RN must complete all professional competency assessments and mandatory education. They serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and students. Promoting evidence-based practice and nursing research is a critical responsibility. The RN participates in data collection and uses evidence to address practice questions. They support efficient and effective resource utilization throughout care delivery. The RN proactively plans for patient care across the continuum. Protocols and procedures may be developed in collaboration with care teams to achieve best practice outcomes. Additional duties as assigned are required, along with compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.
