Job Description
The Role
This role is part of the Finance team in Chicago and will be supporting both GAAP reporting and Statutory reporting. The main focus will be on accounting and reporting for the non-technical results and investment accounting. The level of this position is dependent on the knowledge and experience of the individual in both accounting and the insurance industry.
Responsibilities
Responsible for reviewing non-technical journal entries and bank reconciliations.Prepare monthly file for corporate team in London for submissions of technical and non-technical items.Collaborate with FP&A team to ensure alignment of financial records with budgetsPrepares and reconciles investment activity from Clearwater Analytics and custodian bank statementsPrepares financial analysis of all non-technical balance sheet and income statement accounts on a monthly basis and brings errors to the attention of the accounting manager.Responsible for preparing the statutory main financial statement pages, investment pages and notes.Assisting in coordinating audit requests and PBC schedules.Responsible for understanding and interpreting current and new GAAP/IFRS/STAT pronouncements and how they may differWork with Actuarial on IBNR and loss reporting

Responsible for various ad hoc requestsAssisting with other responsibilities as assigned.Various projects as assigned.
Skills and experience
Bachelor's or Masters degree in Accounting preferred, CPA is desirable but not requiredInsurance experience4-6 years minimum of Accounting professional work experienceProficient in Microsoft Office packages to an intermediate level for ExcelExperience with statutory reporting softwareProactive approach to work - able to demonstrate initiative, flexibility, adaptability, efficiency, accuracy and thoroughnessAbility to interact and communicate at all levels both within and outside the organizationUnderstanding of other team members' deadlines and ability to meet ownSelf-motivated and enthusiastic team playerGood organizational skillsBusiness Process ImprovementChange ManagementControl AssuranceData ManagementDocumentation & Records ManagementFinancial Analytics & ForecastingInsurance Industry ExpertiseProject/Programme ManagementRegulatory ComplianceStakeholder ManagementSystems ManagementFinancial Systems Technical ArchitectureGeneral Ledger Accounting & ReconciliationProcess Standardization & AutomationRisk ManagementTax & Accounting Principles and StandardsTax & Financial AccountingTax & Financial ReportingTax Planning & Strategy
Salary Range: $70,000 - $82,000
