About the role
We are looking for an employee that can be responsible for the timeliness, completeness, consistency, and security of the paper medical billing encounter form and provider charge services form/card through scanning and indexing into the Laserfiche repository and completion of deficiency reports in related software.
Supervision Received: Reports to the Regulatory Services Supervisor.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires prolonged standing or sitting while working in an office environment. Requires some bending or stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.
Typical Working Conditions:
Normal office environment.
Responsibilities
Check assigned placement areas for documents from onsite or offsite locations Separate documents by specified category Take documents with the oldest date and prepare them to be scanned Scan the billing encounter or physician charge form into the digital imaging software Index the documents in a timely manner Save indexed documents to the software for archival purpose Complete daily production worksheets as required Quality check documents prior to destruction of original Reassign scanned work queues, as instructed by supervisor Submit quality data to payers via medical record submission Work departmental deficiency reports to identify any misdirected, unassigned, or uncoded encounters Maintains patient confidentiality Performs related work as required or needed
Location & commitment
Full-time role based at our Greenville Arlington Blvd. location, Monday-Friday, 8a.m. - 5 p.m.
Overtime may be required to ensure patients are taken care, tasks are completed, and calls are returned in a timely manner.
Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.
Candidate requirements
High school diploma and two years' experience in a medical office environment
Associate degree in health information technology or actively enrolled in CAHIIM accredited HIT/HIM curriculum highly preferred
Proficiency with MS office products and experience with EMR and scanning is highly preferred
