Coordinating the activities of phlebotomy staff in the documentation, collection, processing, testing, and shipping of patient samples. Training, evaluating, and coaching phlebotomy staff and providing support. Ensuring compliance with safety and infection control protocols and procedures. Performing blood draws and collecting other biological specimens from participants. Overseeing the inventory and ordering of supplies. Implementing and adhering to quality control procedures including performance metrics (first draw success rates, unable to obtain,). Communicating effectively with national staff through all communication channels. Addressing and resolving any issues or complaints regarding phlebotomy services provided at screening events. Keeping current with the latest techniques and technologies in phlebotomy. Must be able to travel nationally. Company expense reimbursement policy applies. Work from home office with periodic travel to Independence Office.
Responsibilities Work closely with Laboratory Director on all day-to-day laboratory functions. Oversee daily operations of the phlebotomy services. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, protocols and procedures, and knowledge of state phlebotomy requirements. Document and maintain current state phlebotomy requirements. Maintain current list of phlebotomists nationally. Coordinate with the field operations team to support all events. Participate in training and assessing of phlebotomy staff including creating detailed profiles for phlebotomist positions. Ensure quality control in collection, processing, and shipping of specimens. Address participant concerns and questions regarding phlebotomy procedures. Establish and maintain effective communication with other departments. Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications Proven work experience as a laboratory professional with phlebotomy expertise. Knowledge of medical terminology, phlebotomy procedures, and safety protocols. Leadership and team management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Phlebotomy certification required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant science/laboratory field is required.
