We are looking for a Packaging Engineer to design, test, and implement packaging solutions that support new device-based product launches. This role is focused on technical packaging development for plug-in and battery-powered products, including products that may involve lithium batteries and hazardous goods requirements. Packaging must perform in real-world shipping conditions and support scalable production and fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities
Own end-to-end packaging development for new products, from concept through prototype, test, and launch support. Develop packaging designs, build prototypes, and execute performance testing to confirm packaging durability and safety. Troubleshoot packaging issues involving design, materials, and processes, and deliver practical solutions. Review engineering drawings and specifications to determine packaging requirements, special handling needs, and shipping constraints. Support supplier evaluation, selection, and ongoing performance reviews. Use CAD tools to create and refine packaging components and packaging systems. Review production samples and provide clear feedback to vendors. Partner cross-functionally with product development, project management, operations, sourcing, and external suppliers. Plan and execute packaging experiments and packaging line trials as needed. Develop and maintain packaging standards, specifications, and testing plans. Identify cost-saving opportunities related to materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage. Required Experience and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline. Device-based packaging experience (consumer electronics or similar). Experience supporting packaging for products that involve lithium batteries, plug-in devices, or hazardous goods considerations. 3D CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred; equivalent acceptable). Experience designing and developing packaging from scratch, including validation testing. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects. Clear written and verbal communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally. Preferred
