Job Title: Assistant Project Manager (APM)
Job Location: 12301 Kurland Drive, Houston, Texas 77034
Primary Function:
Responsible for assisting the Project Managers and Sales Professionals in the development, planning, execution, and monitoring of projects focused on the turnkey construction of high voltage electrical substations, transmission lines and distribution lines.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
Work with the Project Manager for the review of the cost, schedule, safety, quality, and completion of construction projectsCoordinate work with Purchasing to insure that requested material is expedited and received as needed for the construction of a projectAssist the Project Manager in the preparation and maintenance of cash flows, monthly billing, preparing and obtaining change orders for assigned projectsAssist the Project Manager in the preparation and maintenance of monthly construction progress reports, re-projections, files, etc., required for the construction of a projectAssist the Project Manager in the creation and maintenance of schedules and other work as needed for support of the projectAssist with the development of project estimates and pricingAssist the sales organization in preparation of proposals or in support of customer sales callsResolve inter-group conflicts, project conflicts and delays as required to meet project construction goalsWork effectively with all divisions including Dacon, Field Service, Engineering, and Sales
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management or related field is required. Three years of experience in the design, construction or operations of substations and/or transmission lines is strongly preferred. Three years of experience in the supervision/management of budgets and work groups is preferred.
Demonstrated understanding of substations, substation control and transmission systems is strongly preferredUnderstand financial aspects of project controlsInterpersonal skills, technical knowledge, organizational ability and leadership talentAble to effectively communicate with internal and external customers from a project or sales perspectiveAbility to negotiate and influence key decision makersTechnical writing skills with an understanding of business management conceptsComputer proficient: familiar with Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPointMicrosoft Project and Primavera experience strongly preferredWilling to travel to project sites as necessaryAbility to sit for extended periods while working at a computer (meetings, scheduling, reporting).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk intermittently during office or site visits.Ability to travel to project sites and offices as required (typically short-duration visits).Field / Site Visit Requirements (Occasional)Ability to walk on uneven terrain, gravel, and graded surfaces typical of substation construction sites.Ability to navigate active construction environments, including:stairs, ramps, temporary walkwayspartially completed structuresAbility to climb stairs or ladders to access elevated work areas or control buildings (not continuous climbing).Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, FR clothing , and hearing protection as neededWorking extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions as defined per Company policy.
