Job Summary
We are seeking a highly meticulous and detail-oriented Data Testing Specialist to join our dynamic team in Boston. This critical role requires advanced expertise in data testing, validation, and quality assurance, as well as proven, hands-on experience with Snowflake, Master Data Management (MDM) solutions, and essentially the Data Build Tool (DBT). The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of data validation best practices and proficiency with leading automation tools, including Data Validation Suite (DVS), Power Queries, and Visual Basic Scripting (VBS). As a Data Testing Specialist, you will play a central role in ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and trustworthiness across the organization, directly impacting key business decisions and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Execute comprehensive, end-to-end testing of data pipelines, transformations, and integrations to guarantee data accuracy, reliability, and consistency. Validate data against defined business rules, requirements, and expected outputs, proactively identifying gaps and improvement opportunities. Detect, document, and report on data quality issues, inconsistencies, and anomalies, driving timely resolution. Test and validate data pipelines and transformations developed in Snowflake and DBT, ensuring alignment with performance, scalability, and quality standards. Assess and validate DBT data models, confirming correct implementation of complex business logic. Conduct rigorous testing and validation of MDM solutions, ensuring adherence to data governance and quality standards. Verify master data accuracy and consistency across multiple enterprise systems. Utilize automation tools (DVS, Power Queries, VBS) to maximize efficiency and coverage of data testing processes. Design, implement, and maintain robust automated test scripts, reducing manual effort and supporting continuous integration. Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to fully understand data requirements and deliver optimal testing solutions. Develop and maintain thorough documentation of test cases, results, and data quality reports to promote transparency and organizational learning. Provide actionable feedback and recommendations to enhance data quality and testing methodologies. Architect comprehensive data validation and testing strategies for complex data pipelines and integration projects. Leverage Tableau and Power BI for data validation, visualization, and reporting. Automate complex data comparisons and validations between source and target systems, utilizing accelerators and best-in-class automation tools. Manage code versioning, branching, and reviews through Git and Bitbucket. Actively participate in Agile ceremonies; use JIRA and Confluence to track progress and maintain project documentation. Champion a culture of continuous improvement by systematically documenting, analyzing, and addressing test cases, results, and data quality issues.
Required Skills and Experience Must be based in Boston, MA. Demonstrated, hands-on expertise with Snowflake and DBT (DBT is mandatory). Strong command of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and best-in-class validation methodologies. Proven experience in data profiling, validation, and automated data comparison. Advanced proficiency with automation tools, including Data Validation Suite, Power Queries, VBS, Tableau, or Power BI. Practical knowledge of Git/Bitbucket for version control, branching, and code review. Working familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities; able to convey complex data quality issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
" Experience in cloud-based data environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
