BASIC FUNCTIONUnder the general supervision of the Field Supervisor, this position will include all aspects of wastewater collection system operation. General duties include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on and in collection system components. Driving and operating the tools and equipment needed for system inspection, maintenance, and minor repair of system components as well as maintaining the same tools and equipment. Additionally, emergency collection system service "callouts" during and after business hours and public/customer relations are required for this position.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES"*" denotes an essential function of the jobPerform preventative and corrective maintenance on and in collection system components.Drive and operate the tools and equipment needed for system inspection.Provide maintenance and conduct minor repairs of system components as well as maintain tools and equipment.Maintain the emergency collection system service for emergency calls during and after business hours and provide excellent service to the public and customers.Performs tasks including Jet/Vac cleaning, relocating and set-up, equipment and tool maintenance, CCTV sewer lines, installing CIPP, reinstating taps, and manhole inspection.Follow OSHA Regulations.Perform other duties as assigned.STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCEDemonstrate informative and professional assistance when working with vendors, co-workers, and the public.Act independently and originate new procedures and new approaches to problems.Ability to work with the general public and to remain professional at all times and ensure excellent customer service is provided at all times. Ability to handle calls while maintaining proper phone etiquette and a high level of professionalism at all times.Willingness to take on additional tasks as assigned.Display excellent verbal and written communication skills.Maintain initiative to preserve the flow of work.Work under stress and with commitment to deadlines.Sustain interpersonal relationships which encourage openness, candor and trust, both internally and with the general public.Complete projects and/or reports in an accurate and timely mannerMaintain City information in a confidential manner.MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to work as a team member.Be a motivated self-starter.Work independently and to be accurate, efficient and organized.Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Work under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment.Frequent lifting of 50 pounds and occasional lifting in excess of 70 pounds.Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, twisting, reaching and lifting approved weight above shoulder level.May stand or walk continuously for 4-6 hours per day.May sit or drive for 3-5 hours per day. Use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and repetitive fine manipulation.Use of feet for repetitive operation of foot controls.Hearing protection required occasionally.Respirator use required occasionally.Vision must be correctable to 20/20.WORKING ENVIORNMENT AND CONDITIONSThis position requires working in both an internal and external environment.Many functions of this position will be performed outside and in extreme weather and temperature conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, ice, and dust.This position requires entry into confined spaces such as tanks and manholes as well as routine exposure to raw sewage and wastewater.This position requires regular exposure to high traffic and noise levels.This position requires operation and working around fast-moving and noisy machinery.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAININGHigh School Diploma or equivalent certificate (GED) or demonstrate the ability to work at this level based on past experience.Willingness to take on additional tasks as assigned.Familiar with basic OSHA standards and safety practices.Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
