Rad Tech-Cath Hourly Pay Rate: $64.50 Job Description As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, the Rad Tech-Cath assumes responsibility for operating the heart catheterization laboratory suite. The role involves operating diagnostic fluoroscopy and various cardiac equipment, monitoring patient vitals, performing routine calculations, circulating, and assisting physicians during procedures when requested. The technician prepares the procedure rooms, equipment, and patients, ensuring a smooth workflow. Acts as a liaison to the hospital Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to ensure safety compliance. Qualifications
Education: Required: Associate degree in radiologic sciences. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in radiologic sciences. Experience: Minimum of 2 years as an allied health professional. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA). Registered Radiologic Technologist license in the state of practice and registration from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Skills & Knowledge: Proficiency with computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal abilities. Attention to detail and ability to perform complex, safety-sensitive tasks. Ability to learn new procedures quickly. Knowledge of federal, state, and local radiation safety regulations. Flexibility to work various schedules, including 24/7, weekends, and holidays.
Job Duties
Assist with patient setup and prep before procedures and perform post-procedure cleanup using safe transfer techniques. Document procedures accurately in logs for billing and record-keeping. Operate fluoroscopy equipment to obtain diagnostic images of coronary and peripheral vascular systems. Conduct hemodynamic monitoring and report findings to physicians during procedures. Monitor and minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff. Transmit, archive, and retrieve images via PACS. Perform regular quality control and maintenance of fluoroscopy equipment. Adapt communication and procedures based on patient needs, respecting privacy and obtaining permissions. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical and Environmental Demands
Medium work, exerting 20-50 pounds occasionally or 10-25 pounds frequently. Requires walking, standing, and physically demanding tasks. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and potentially infectious materials. Opportunity for occupational exposure to hazardous waste and medications.
