Plus provides consultation to others to interpret radiologic findings and assist in determining the nature and the extent of diagnosis covering all body systems. Manages patients through the continuum of hospital care; orders treatments, tests, and consults with specialty physicians and primary care physician where appropriate. Qualifications NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS Education: • A Medical Degree, MD or DO • Completion of a five (5) year residency program in Radiology • Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology License: Must possess and maintain a current and unrestricted license to practice as a physician in any state within the United States, District of Columbia or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Credentialing: Additional credentialing/privileging qualifications required for membership to the Medical Staff Other Skills and Abilities: A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers. All employment references must address and indicate success in each one of the following areas: • Positive working relationships with others • Possession of high ethical standards and no history of complaints from co-workers or patients • Reliable and dependable; reports to work as scheduled without excessive absences • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to optimize the care of our inpatients • Ability to work a flexible work schedule • Completion of and above-satisfactory scores on all job interviews, demonstrating to the satisfaction of the interviewees and TCRHCC that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job • Successful completion of and positive results from all background and reference checks, including positive employment references from authorized representatives of past and current employers demonstrating to the satisfaction of TCRHCC a record of satisfactory performance and that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job • Successful completion of fingerprint clearance requirements, physical examinations, and other screenings indicating that the applicant is qualified to be employed by TCRHCC and demonstrating to the satisfaction of TCRHCC that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job • Submission of all required employment-related documents, applications, resumes, references, and other required information free of false, misleading or incomplete information, as determined by TCRHCC. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Determines based on patient's physical condition, history and symptomatology what radiological examinations are necessary for accurate diagnosis. Prescribes x-rays for specific body areas to be taken by technologist. Administers any radiopaque substance, which the patient cannot take orally to render internal structures and organs visible to diagnostic x-ray or fluoroscopic screen. After study of developed x-ray or fluoroscopic images, evaluated findings, correlating them with other examinations and tests. Records diagnosis and recommendation for inclusion in patient's record and forwards to attending physician. Serves as consultation to their physicians to interpret radiologic findings and assists in determining in the nature and the extent of further diagnostic studies. • Recommends methods and procedures for coordination of imaging studies services with other medical activities and advises on the kind and quantity of imaging studies personnel, supplies and equipment. • May serve as Acting Chief of Radiology during the absence of the Director of Imaging Services (Director). Responsible to orient and oversee work provided by temporary or locum tenems radiology during the absence of the Director. Will be responsible to evaluate the performance of temporary radiologists and recommend to the Medical Executive Committee appropriate continued privileges. • Participates in teaching activities for the clinical staff, including residents in various specialties, and physical extender trainees. Assists in training programs for field x-ray technicians to improve technical skills including knowledge of radiation protection. Provide regular onsite reading of films at two to four neighboring service units. • Assists in the monitoring and reporting of continuous Quality Improvement activities, meeting all the Joint Commission requirements. • Prepare appropriate medical records for all patients seen to assure the accumulation and organization of all pertinent clinical data needed to provide comprehensive medical care; dictate discharge summaries and correspondence concerning patients under his/her care to physicians, hospitals and other individuals and facilities. • Refer patients to appropriate contracted medical or other government facilities, providing full clinical information for care and diagnostic procedures that cannot be adequately provided here. Coordinate and integrate information obtained into the ongoing health care program at TCRHCC and assure the provision of timely follow-up care as required. • Handwriting must be legible. • Responsible for electronic health records data entry pertinent to patient service role. • Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield. • Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. (see CDC website for most current updates) • Complete task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee and external customer satisfaction • Performs other duties as assigned.
