MRI Technologist This is a part-time, 30 hour/week position. The shift is variable and includes days and evenings. No nights. Rotating weekends and holidays. Radiology candidates who accept a part-time or full-time position with University Hospitals are eligible for: Competitive hourly rate Enhanced PTO for candidates with 5+ years of relevant work experience Sign-on bonus ($10,000 for full-time or $5,000 for part-time) Tuition reimbursement after six months Career Ladder Progression Free Parking A career as a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologist is exciting for those who are passionate about health care, patient comfort and saving lives. As a technologist, you are asked to operate MRI scanners and to ensure that the procedure produces quality images and information for the health care professional to make an accurate diagnosis. You have the chance to work and interact directly with patients as you ensure that they are comfortable and calm. Utilize your medical knowledge by interviewing patients, explaining the procedure and placing the patient in the appropriate spot on the table. Technologists are also organized, detail-oriented people who are familiar with the anatomical area that is being scanned and the patient's history. Develop relationships with patients as you help diagnose their condition as an MRI technologist. What You Will Do:
Displays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its values Provides age-specific care to patients from neonates through geriatrics. Performs MRI scans as directed by radiologist, and, once orientation and training are completed, independently conducts scans if ARRT-registered. Patient care during visit to MRI Knowledge of MRI equipment and safety in MRI environment. Assures a safe and clean environment Maintains knowledge of technical skills Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment Demonstrates successful technical/patient skills by efficiently implementing special procedure technology in the MR area Uses administrative skills to contribute to the successful operation of the department Collaborates effectively and in a timely manner with co-workers and clinical staff Clear knowledge of modality specific equipment, computers, PACS, EMR and RIS.
Your Additional Responsibilities Will Be:
Uses a variety of equipment specific to the area, including MR scanners, power injectors, and various computers. Must demonstrate effective organizational, written and oral communication skills. Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Ability to perform procedures specific to area. Answers phones and arranges schedule for in-patient request Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers and coworkers Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications: Education Qualifications:
Must meet one of the following educational pathways Pathway 1 (ARRT Pathway): Associate's Degree with completion of an accredited 2 ‑ year Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology program. (Required) or Pathway 2 (MRI/ARDMS/NMTCB Pathway): Associate's Degree with completion of a primary track in MRI, Nuclear Medicine, or Sonography. (Required)
Experience Qualifications:
MR scanning experience. (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of sterile and surgical procedures. (Required proficiency) Knowledge of MRI equipment and safety in MRI environment. (Required proficiency) Knowledge of radiology information system . (Required proficiency) Basic knowledge of oxygen tanks, suction machine and emergency equipment. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications:
Any of the following: Registered Technologist Radiology (ARRT-R), Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT), Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T), Registered ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) OR ARRT–MR Registry-eligible. (Required Upon Hire) Must meet one of the following post-hire certification pathways. Pathway 1 (ARRT Pathway): Registered Technologist MRI (ARRT-MR) or American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT) (Required within 2 Years) And meets educational ARRT pathway requirements upon hire or Pathway 2 (MRI/ARDMS/NMTCB Pathway): ARDMS or NMTCB registration (Upon Hire) AND Registered Technologist MRI (ARRT-MR) or American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT) (Required Within 6 Months of hire or transfer) and meets education MRI/ARDMS/NMTCB pathway requirements upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire) Ohio radiologic license is not required for MRI-only practice.
