Computed Tomography Technologist Assists the Department Director/Supervisor in all daily departmental operations; performs and oversees computed tomography procedures performed in the radiology department; performs quality control procedures as required by the manufacturer; evaluates all orders, verifies them with the radiologist, and ensures the proper exam is performed. Properly screens all patients to ensure there are no contraindications to oral or intravenous contrast media. Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or nursing departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. Responsible and accountable for maintaining performance skills. Routinely works weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on an on-call/call-back status, when needed. Qualifications:
Must have current BCLS certification. Five years prior CT experience. Membership in related professional organization preferred. Knowledge of performance standards as outlined by the ASRT. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
Education / Licensure:
Graduate from an approved school in Radiologic Technology. Licensed as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) in the State of Texas. ARRT Certification (R). ARRT certification in CT required.
Education, Training, Experience:
Proficient in performing radiologic examinations of extremities, thorax, abdomen, spine, skull exams. Some of these exams may be performed as portables. Familiarized with utilizing C-Arm. BCLS on hire. Five years experience performing CT procedures. Proficient in IV access. Able to operate a power injector for PICC lines, peripheral lines, and thorough knowledge of CTA procedures. Able to assist radiologist in performing CT guided interventional procedures. Able to utilize critical thinking to ensure the appropriate patient care is delivered. Thorough knowledge of Joint Commission and TDH requirements and maintains documentation for these regulating bodies.
