Responsible for safe handling of equipment and images.
Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure.
Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician/nurse contact for intervention.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Makes appropriate decisions requiring special equipment, procedures and U/S guided procedures. Selects proper protocols for a variety of examinations for patient safety and reduced exposure.
Sends images to the PACS system and completes study within the EMR system.
Practices good medical and surgical aseptic techniques.
Assists in maintaining basic records and reports.
Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel.
Interacts professionally with patient/family.
Completes all work before clocking out and leaving. This includes checking with nurses' stations.
Knowledgeable of fire and safety regulations.
Has knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of the radiology department and other departments.
Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population. POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation / Experience / License and Certifications Graduation from Allied Health Program or approved Ultrasound Program. Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), preferred. License by the State of Wyoming is not required for an Ultrasound or MRI Technologist. BLS certification, required. Works independently. Needs no mentoring. 1 year of Ultrasound experience. Department Specific Education / Experience / License and CertificationsAdditional Skills Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred. Basic computer knowledge. Working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy. Knowledge of general anatomy and physiology.
