Speech-Language Pathology Services Provide speech-language pathology services to students with speech, voice, fluency or language disorders. Provide therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with their students' ability to derive full benefit from the educational program. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology or related field from an accredited college or university Valid Texas license as a speech-language therapy assistant granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists Knowledge of habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions Ability to instruct and manage student behavior Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Minimum one year of school-based speech language pathology experience Bilingual Spanish preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties Therapy
Provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Implement programs under the direction of supervising SLP necessary to address assistive technology needs of students.
Student Management
Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level and interests of students. Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Administration
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents. Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations. Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment. Perform other duties as assigned
Working Conditions Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) Moderate lifting. May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchairs or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities. Transferring of equipment to various campuses. Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide travel Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
